Life Insurance Without A Medical Exam

What is no medical exam life insurance?

No medical exam life insurance policies do not need a physical to qualify for coverage.

With a life insurance medical exam, you must get your weight and height checked. You must also give blood and urine samples. Your blood pressure should be checked too. Other things might happen such as an electrocardiogram test to see if you can buy insurance. Insurance companies use the results to decide if you can have life insurance

Insurance companies use the exam to learn more about you. They don’t just look at your answers and prescription history, they also ask you health questions. They want to know how healthy you are and if you have ever had any health problems.

Prices for life insurance policies without medical exams can vary. Some are for people who do not want to be asked about their health while others focus on those with good health.

No Medical Exam Life Insurance Types

Guaranteed issue life insurance

Guaranteed acceptance life insurance policies are small life insurance policies with a value of under $25,000. People sell them to older people to cover final expenses like funeral costs. These policies issue up to age 85.

Some insurance policies have a graded death benefit. This means that the full death benefit will not be paid out in the first few years unless you die from an accident.

There are two types of life insurance: guaranteed issue and medically underwritten. The type that you get depends on how healthy you are. If you are not very healthy, it is more expensive for you to buy a life insurance policy than healthier.

Simplified issue life insurance

Simplified issue life insurance policies do not require a medical exam. However, you may need to answer a short health questionnaire and possibly a phone interview during the application process. Most of the questions are about your medical history, recent hospitalizations, and height and weight. Companies may also ask about your drug, alcohol, and tobacco use.

Insurance companies sometimes ask for your medical history, what type of car you have, and other information. Approval is not guaranteed. Sometimes it’s a whole life insurance policy that offers a lot of coverage, but the cost is more expensive than if you were young and healthy.

Instant-approval term life insurance

Some life insurance companies have an easier way to buy a life insurance policy. This is called accelerated underwriting. It makes the process of getting a policy easier and faster.

Accelerated underwriting uses a set of guidelines that helps insurance companies decide if you can have coverage and how much it should cost. The application process for instant life insurance often includes a few health questions. To calculate the risk of insuring you, the insurer will gather data about you. The data they gather is your driving record, prescription drug history, and information from previous life insurance applications.

You may still need to have a medical exam. The insurance company might not give you approval for the policy.

Group life insurance

Life insurance that you can get from your employer is called group life insurance. The rates are set for the group, and the employer pays most of the cost. For basic coverage, it will be one to two times your annual salary. You do not need to take a medical exam if you want coverage.

Your employer might also give you the chance to buy additional insurance that is not included in your health insurance. This is called supplemental life insurance. You might need to provide medical information or go through a medical exam before you can get coverage. Insurance rates are based on the group as a whole, so it may be cheaper to buy an outside policy if you are young and healthy.
